„Der Plan der Stadt mit den Befestigungen ist richtig und stimmt mit dem Holsschen Zeichnungen von 1687 völlig überein, aber die Namen der beiden Tore sind verwechselt worden, und daher ist die Umgebung vollständig falsch dargestellt. Der nach Westen führende Weg geht nicht nach Cottbus, sondern nach Lieberose, und von dem östlichen Wege gilt das Umgekehrte, und die Malxe führt nicht nördlich, sondern südlich bei der Stadt vorbei.“ (Franz Groger: Urkundliche Geschichte der Stadt und ehemaligen Festung Peitz.
